HORSE SOLARIUM
CUSTOMER TESTIMONIAL
Michael Jung (Olympic champion)
„A Sascotec Horsepower solarium has been installed in our stable since October 2017. We are completely satisfied with the unit. During the colder months, when temperatures drop to 10 degrees or lower, the solarium is in use all day long to dry our horses. It is very well contoured and adapted to the shape of a horse’s back; it is height-adjustable, and the moist air is effectively vented. It is easy to operate.“
FAQS
Frequently Asked Questions
First and foremost, its shape is unique: it is modeled after the contour of a horse’s back. This ensures that the lamps and fans direct their full effect toward the horse rather than past it. The built-in infrared and UV lamps have various beneficial effects on the horse. In addition, the unit can be adjusted to accommodate horses of different sizes using the two adjustment motors. The powerful fans ensure rapid removal (760 m³/h) of moist air from the animal.
Even on cooler days, a workout can be strenuous and make you sweat. Because your horse dries quickly under the horse solarium, you don’t put your horse at risk of catching a cold, and you support its recovery and well-being. Depending on how wet the coat is, drying takes only a few minutes.
Although horses tolerate cold better than heat, they still love it when the sun shines on their coats. The positive effects of UV radiation are undisputed. Medicine has long utilized this to prevent diseases and support healing processes. Sunlight regenerates the skin, stimulates metabolism and vitamin D production, counteracts muscle tension, and alleviates depression. The Sascotec Horsepower horse solarium was developed specifically for the unique needs of horses.
The distance must never be less than 50 cm! Anything less than that poses a risk of burns! Adjust the height of the unit before leading your horse underneath it so that it doesn’t get startled. For horses that are not yet familiar with the solarium, you should first set the unit significantly higher so that the horse doesn’t bump its head against it and can slowly get used to it.
Sascotec Horsepower recommends a height of 3 meters.
As a rule, 20 to 30 minutes are sufficient to first dry a horse and then provide beneficial deep heat. Do not adhere to fixed treatment times; instead, observe your horse. If it becomes restless, end the session.
Before Riding: Before riding, the solarium is used to warm up the muscles. Warming up the back muscles is particularly beneficial for horses with sensitive backs. The infrared radiation penetrates deep into the muscles and can also help relieve adhesions or muscle tension. But be careful: a session under the solarium before training does not replace the warm-up phase at a walk!
After Riding: If the horse has sweated during training, a session under the solarium is recommended. This helps the horse dry off more quickly and reduces the risk of catching a cold. To do this, use the ventilation system in combination with the infrared lamps. Warm air absorbs more moisture than cold air, which allows the fan to remove the moisture more quickly.
